I'm baaaaack! It feels like I was gone for ages, but in reality it was only a week. Crazy. So here I go with my catch-up blog:
1) CONGRATS to my best bud, rich on his second degree. i agree with jeff, you think you're better than us now, huh? haha. jk. i'll catch up with you soon enough.
2) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my ultimate cuddlin' buddy, bev. wish i was there in ny to celebrate! :(
3) THANKS to jj, jeff, van, naomi and all my socal buddies for their hospitality last week. good times.
E3 was insane, as expected. according to Gamespot, "Show officials said a record 70,000 attendees walked the miles of aisles located at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The shorthand version of metrics tallied as follows: 547,000 square feet of exhibition space consumed, 400 exhibitors in place, 5,000-plus products on display (80 percent should be on store shelves by year's end), and 1,000 new product launches tucked into the many nooks and crannies of the LACC."
needless to say, the event was pretty amazing. (i'll post some pictures soon.) i heard there were even guys repelling and skydiving outside to promote the America's Army game. nuts! meanwhile inside, the EA, Sony and Microsoft booths definitely stood out on my list. the EA booth had a 360-degree screen in a dome-like room that showed off their Xbox 360 games. standing in the middle of the room with a huge screen surrounding you, really made you feel like you were in the middle of a giant video game scene. insane.
i worked the front desk of the Eidos PR room which was off the show floor and was by appointment only. it was a fun room to be in since we had press from all over the world. i even made it onto the E3 insider webcast of our booth. that was pretty embarrassing.
the after parties were pretty sweet too. open bar, buffets... it was a good time. i even saw one of the guys from Pimp My Ride at one of the parties. haha. but the ultimate party was the Sony Playstation party on the hill above Dodger Stadium, right behind the "Think Blue" sign. it was HUGE! room after tented room with food, bars, music, stages and even a wrestling ring. jimmy eat world performed on the main stage, and some other folks i didn't know. supposedly, in previous years, there were even bigger performances like missy elliot. anyway, it was a fun drunken time and i even got a cool PS bag as a giveaway.
after the E3 maddness, i chilled with the socal folks. lots and lots of chillin. and then lots and lots of sleeping. it was a nice and welcome getaway from the daily norcal grind.
and that is my story. whew!
