i got two death notices yesterday. the one i blogged about in the morning and then one in the afternoon.

my lola passed away yesterday. from what i can tell from what my relatives have told me, it was from compliations from pneumonia. she was in her 80s.

that was pretty unexpected. my lolo had a stroke awhile back and hasn't been in the best of health so it was almost expected that he would be the first to go. my lola was the strong one, taking care of my lolo, holding it together. i hope my lolo is okay and i wonder what he will do next.

as expected, i'm making an impromptu trip to the philippines. i leave this saturday and return on june 21. crazy. i haven't been there in eight years. and the last time i was there, it wasn't a pleasant experience. i only spent a day and a half at my dad's province (batangas). it was cut short because of some conspiracy to kidnap my sister and i.

it should be different this time around. there will be a ton of us from all over the place -- my cousins, aunts and uncles. and i heard my dad's siblings have all built (or are in the process of building) houses there. its sad how funerals really bring people together.

anyway, it should be an adventure. lots of stuff to take care of before i go -- work, travel plans, packing. its so damn hot in the PI right now. ugh. and i'll be gone for 10 days. man, how unexpected. i'll probably get online at some point in time, though. that is, if they have internet in the province. who knows. we'll see.
