i meant to blog this earlier, but i forgot. it may be somewhat old news but i want to make sure i write this down since its something i'm proud of.

i'm in this volleyball league. B-level, with a few of my sister's coworkers. a few months ago, they needed another girl so i joined them. they're cool... older and not particularly folks i can see myself hanging out with outside of volleyball, but cool nonetheless.

anyway, we made it to the semifinals and this past tuesday was our game. if we won, we'd play the final game right afterward. unfortunately, a lot of our players couldn't make it and we only had 4. the first team we had to defeat had a strong roster -- 12 people showed up. of course only 6 played at a time, but still. and to our own surprise, we won. in fact, we kicked their butt.

the final game was right afterward and we only had a short rest. once again, it was 4 against 6. we won the first set, lost the second. i could tell by the end of the second game, we were losing steam. we were all so pooped! with 4 people, everyone had to work so much harder. my eyes were getting blurry and my legs were shaking. i guess it was no surprise that the third game defeated us, but we definitely put up a fight.

while this may not be interesting news to most, i was really proud. 4 against 6, two back-to-back games, and we took 2nd place in the league. we all agreed that we played the best and most intense volleyball we've played all season. it would've been great to take 1st and get some cool prizes, but i'm still proud. yay team!

i'm passionate about two sports -- snowboarding and volleyball. there aren't that many folks here that share this love for volleyball with me so i'm usually on my own. in new york, i brought a bunch of strangers together and we synched up to make an undefeated team. i'm hoping to do that here. i've slowly found some folks to join me and hopefully i can start getting out there and playing more. i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

moral of this story is this: i love volleyball. the end.
