in response to JJ and his complaints about the cost of laundry in college: at nyu it is $1.50 to wash, $1.50 to dry. i wait 3 weeks between laundry days, so i always have 2+ loads. do the math and that makes about $9 each time i do laundry. that's why i've stocked up on socks and underwear. my sophomore year it was $2 to wash, $2 to dry. and the washers are teeny tiny and the dryers only work 50% of the time. it's great.

on top of that, i have to take public transportation to and from work at $1.50 each way (they're thinking about raising it to $2). if i drove it would be $6 to get over any bridge or through any tunnel. parking is something ridiculous like $15 for half an hour and mixed drinks at a bar can go from $5 to a ridiculous $10 + tip.

but, on the bright side, we got no tax on clothes and shoes. it's all the price you pay to live in the coolest city in the world. now you know why i'm as cheap as can be.
